Payout Cycle
Payout Cycle
Firm termsDefinition
The period and conditions between one payout request and the next. In each cycle, the firm's conditions must be met again: qualifying days, minimum profit, and sometimes a consistency rule that restarts from zero after each payout.
Detailed explanation
Some firms allow a payout request every 24 hours after the profit is built, while others set a cycle of several trading days. The frequency alone doesn't tell the whole story: a short cycle with a low cap can pay out less money per month than a long cycle with a high cap. What trips up traders is the stage after the payout. When the count starts from zero, one strong profitable day at the beginning of the new cycle increases the total profit that needs to be accumulated to meet the consistency rule, and delays the next payout.
An example from the prop world
On FTMO Futures, in the Growth plan, you can request a payout every 4 days, after 4 qualifying days, up to 50% of the profit above the starting balance and up to a cap of $2,500 on a 50K account.
